The new Las Vegas marathon
The next Las Vegas Marathon is scheduled to take place on Sunday, November 3 - the first such event since 2019.
It is being staged by Salt Lake City-based organiser Brooksee, who produce nine annual races across the country involving around 50,000 participants.
Las Vegas joins Mesa, Arizona and Portland, Oregon, among the company’s big three marathon races.
Phil Dumontet, CEO at Brooksee, said that Las Vegas was an ideal location for running events, attracting competitors from states all over the US and from 40 countries across the world. He stated that it had the potential to become one of the top race destinations globally.
The organisers are expecting around 6,000 runners on the day and spectators in excess of 20,000 along the route.
The Las Vegas course starts at the Sandstone Quarry Overlook in Red Rock Canyon, working its way through Charleston Boulevard and the 18b Arts District, ending in a climactic finish at the Fremont Street Experience, where there will be a festival-style finale with food, entertainment and a beer garden.
The November marathon will be accompanied by an expo at the World Market Center and an immersive art exhibit, the Omega Mart at Area15.
